A probe score is not a source
Every coin on this archive starts unverified, and most still are. Getting a coin to checked takes two separate steps, and the first one on its own is not enough to publish anything as fact.
The first step is a search. For each coin, a script queries GitHub's search API for repositories whose name or description mentions the coin. Results get scored: an organization named after the coin scores highest, a repository name match scores next, crypto vocabulary in the description adds a little more, and an older repository, more likely for a coin from 2014 to 2018, adds a small bonus. The result is a confidence tier: high, medium, or low, or nothing at all if no repository turned up.
A high score describes how closely a candidate's name and vocabulary resemble the coin's. That resemblance is not enough to publish on its own. Coin names collide with unrelated projects constantly. An early smoke test of this exact search matched zennies to a UI component library called zenny-ui, and allsafe2 to an Android app named allsafe-android. Neither has anything to do with either coin.
So a high-confidence candidate goes through a second, independent check before anything changes on the page. That check fetches the candidate repository's own description, its topics, and the first part of its README, and tests that text for two things at once: does it name the coin, and does the text itself describe a cryptocurrency project. A repository can share a word with a coin's name and still have nothing to do with it, which is the exact gap this second check is built to close. Only when both tests pass does the entry flip from unverified to checked, and the sentence the call rests on gets recorded and published alongside it, so the judgement can be checked against the source directly.
Thirteen coins had a high-confidence candidate. Ten of those thirteen passed the second check. Three did not: one candidate turned out to be an unrelated wallet-generator tool that happened to reference the coin's ticker, one candidate's own description never called itself a cryptocurrency at all, and one returned no sentence that met the bar either way. All three stay marked unverified, and what was checked on each one is recorded here rather than left out.
